Lex James has paid her dues. Climbing the ranks from music intern, Lex has used her experiences working behind the curtain as launchpad to push her into the spotlight. With a performance roster that includes work with artists like Sia, John Legend, and Kanye West, Lex’s longtime love affair with music and work ethic has paved the way for her journey toward solo artist.

Growing up on Chicago’s Southside, Lex’s knack for performance started young. Some of her favorite formative memories were singing in the church choir with her siblings. From dance classes to musicals and countless national anthems sung at high school games, Lex kept finding herself drawn to the stage. While studying finance at Boston University, Lex participated in college acapella and had the chance to sing at the New York’s Beacon Theatre. In that moment, her passion for performance was solidified.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2018, Lex began working at Live Nation/Lafitte Management with artists like Pharrell Williams and Charlie Puth. Lex moved on to ICM Partners (now CAA) working under Robert Gibbs, the agent for H.E.R. and Ari Lennox. While helpful in learning about the inner workings of the industry, Lex realized working behind the scenes wasn’t what she was seeking. She was being called to a higher purpose.

While working at ICM, Lex James received the opportunity she has been waiting for: a chance to sing with the Sunday Service Choir, working for her hometime hero Kanye West. Lex toured across the globe with Kanye for 2 years. Since then, she has performed in two domestic tours with the duo Drama. In addition, she has worked with artists Alicia Keys, Lil Baby, Demi Lovato, Tyga, and others.

Lex has been working on her debut E.P. “Pathway to Joy” since 2020. Her songs “Love Me Better” and “Inner Beauty” highlight the message that Lex wants to spread. Once you see yourself as the greatest treasure, no one can stop you from reaching your dreams. She aims to start conversations toward inner healing.
